The US Exit Tax or HEART Tax Act plays a pivotal role when Australian expats living in the United States are either planning a repatriation back to Australia or are considering whether to extend their time in the US as a resident.
What a lot of Australian expats living in the US don’t realise is that, all depending on how long you’ve lived in the US and how much your networth is, you maybe hit with a nasty tax bill when it comes to leave the country.
