Bond yields edged lower, and commodities rose as geopolitical and trade tensions escalated. Particularly with the US increasing tariff pressure and removing the “de-minimis” exemption. Concerns also surfaced over potential politicisation of the US Federal Reserve, following attempts to remove a sitting governor.
In Australia, the expansion of the Labor government’s housing policy is expected to spur property demand. Inflation ticked up slightly, but subdued wage growth and rising unemployment may lead to interest rate cuts ahead.
