Carlos is a Financial Planner at Atlas Wealth Management, based in Australia, with a specialised focus on supporting Australian expatriates across the Asia Pacific region and the Americas.
Born in Caracas, Carlos moved to Australia at 16 and settled on the Gold Coast. He watched his parents make the same move in their 40s and rebuild their financial lives inside a system nobody had explained to them, and helping them work it out is how he came to the profession. Atlas clients are making that journey in the opposite direction, but the problem is the same one: money in one country, a life in another, and rules that assume you grew up with them.
Carlos began his career as an accountant at PwC, working in financial services corporate tax with large international investment institutions on cross-border matters. That grounding shapes how he approaches expat work, particularly the year a client’s circumstances change. Whether that is the year they leave or the year they come home, residency shifts, capital gains become a live issue and superannuation stops behaving as assumed, and decisions made across those twelve months tend to follow a client for a decade.
Carlos holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Financial Planning from Griffith University and is working towards the Certified Financial Planner designation. He speaks Spanish and English natively, and continues to build his French, currently at B2.
